Sign in, then create a new project and choose its type — a one-off film or a series. You can also start from a loose idea and develop it into a full script later, or import an existing screenplay. Your work autosaves as you go.

Yes — there's a mobile companion for capturing ideas by voice, reviewing your work and sharing it for feedback on the go. You can even add it to your home screen. The full writing surface — the screenplay editor, page setup, exports and reports — is designed for a desktop or laptop.

Yes. Scriptopus applies industry-standard screenplay formatting as you type — scene headings, action, character cues, dialogue and transitions all fall into place. Use Tab and Enter to move between element types without touching the mouse.

Yes. Choose the series format and you get seasons that hold episodes, each with its own brief, beats, treatment and script — while shared details like characters and world stay consistent across the whole show.

Yes. Page setup lets you control page size, margins, font and spacing — either for a single script or as your default for new projects. There's also a one-click preset that matches Final Draft's standard layout if that's what your production expects.

Yes. Most fields — including the script editor and your story notes — support voice input, with automatic punctuation and clean-up so what you say comes out readable. It's especially handy for getting a messy first idea down fast, or capturing thoughts on mobile.

They're stages of developing a story before you write pages. The Beat Board maps your story visually as beats and sequences. The Treatment develops it into prose, scene by scene. The Story Canvas is a free-form space to think through characters, themes and structure. All of them feed the same project, so nothing has to be re-entered when you move to the script.

It works like a dramaturg, not just a text generator. It can analyze your structure, suggest alternative ways a scene could go, surface plot holes and continuity gaps, challenge your choices, and produce reports on characters, locations and production needs — always with the context of your whole story, not just the line you're on.

No — and that's by design. Scriptopus is built to support your writing, not replace it. The AI only changes your content when you explicitly ask it to; brainstorming or asking a question never rewrites your script behind your back. The story stays yours.

No. Your work isn't used to train AI models. When you use an AI feature, the relevant text is sent to the AI provider only to generate that response for you — not to teach a model. You keep all rights to everything you create.

Not during the beta — the AI features are included free. When paid plans arrive, we'll be clear about what's included before anything changes.

Yes. You can import the formats you already work in — Final Draft (.fdx), Fountain, Celtx (.celtx), PDF and Word (.docx) — and pick up where you left off.

You can export your screenplay to PDF, Final Draft (.fdx) and Fountain, and download your briefs and reports as PDFs too — so you can hand off to a production, a reader or another tool whenever you need.

In most cases, yes — scene headings, action and dialogue are detected and mapped to the right screenplay elements. Imports from messier sources (like a scanned PDF) can need a little tidying, which you can do quickly in the editor.

Always. There's no lock-in — export to PDF, FDX or Fountain any time. Your work is yours, and you can keep your own copies whenever you like.

Yes. Your writing saves as you work and syncs securely to the cloud, so it's there when you sign in from another device. No manual "save" button to remember.

Yes. Scriptopus keeps automatic backups and a version history, so you can look back at earlier drafts and restore what you need — even a single field or one episode — without overwriting everything else.

Yes — your projects are private to your account by default. Nothing becomes visible to anyone else unless you deliberately create a share link for it, and you can revoke that access at any time. You keep all rights to everything you create.

Export anything you want to keep at any time — PDF, FDX or Fountain. If you choose to delete your account, your data is removed with it. You're always in control of what stays and what goes.

Yes. You can create a share link for a script or a specific part of your project and send it to readers, collaborators or producers. They can read it and leave comments and feedback — no account needed on their end. You stay in control and can revoke a link at any time.

Today you can share your work and gather feedback and comments from others. Deeper real-time co-writing is on our roadmap — it's something we're actively building toward.

It's free while in beta. We plan to introduce paid plans later, and we'll share the details — and give plenty of notice — well before anything changes. Nothing will start charging you by surprise.

On the sign-in screen, use the "Forgot password" link. We'll email you a secure link to set a new one. If it doesn't arrive, check your spam folder or write to hello@scriptopus.com.

You can delete your account from your account settings. This permanently removes your projects and data, so export anything you'd like to keep first.
